I am a retired business education teacher, but I have been interested in needlework as long as I can remember. At one period of my life, I owned a small knitting (yarn) shop. Then I returned to teaching when my children were in third and tenth grades respectively. My mother did a lot of needlework and I suppose I picked it up from her. However, upon retiring from teaching in 1993 after 20 years, I started to quilt and have been doing just that ever since. I hand quilt and machine piece and applique. Machine quilting is a chore, but I work at it. Paper piecing (foundation quilting) is also an interest. My two children are off and running and since my two grandsons are in college I have a lot of time on my hands. My husband has a small "Mom and Pop" chicken/rib business which keeps him busy and from which I have just retired, therefore, more time on my hands. He loves to travel and I have a problem with traveling--you can guess the rest. I also knit, crochet, and do counted cross stitch, but not much since I began to quilt.
