I love to sew . . . and made my own suits and dresses during my working career . . . always had something stunning to wear to the office. These days I'm enjoying busy retirement, and the emphasis is no longer wardrobe. My focus is making draperies, bedding, and linens for our Victorian House.
Two years ago I started designing handbags and travel totes that are good looking and function well. I am inspired by history, and fashion from years and years ago. And, I am inspired by all the talented people I see everyday when I visit Craftsy.com
My husband and I are restoring an 1890s Victorian House . . .currently I'm repairing walls in the upstairs hallway, stairwell and foyer. My wardrobe for this work isn't much more than well worn jeans, a sweatshirt, and a heavy duty dust mask.
We've always enjoyed doing our own work, and in many cases learned new skills in the process. That's why I enjoy craftsy and all the fabulous online courses. Reminds me of my grade school wookbook . . . it was called Think, Say, and Do.
And if you are a member of the Craftsy community like me, I'd say my new moto is: "move forward, and do what you love to do".
