I grew up sewing clothes and Grandma taught me to hand quilt as a child. I've been making quilts most of my adult life but being a working single mother I don't have much time or energy left over and so don't get too much sewing actually done. I have always painted and drawn as well. My formal background is I have a degree in mechanical drafting and technical illustration. This is very much an asset when I draft patterns. I just do not like to use existing patterns. So even if it is a traditional quilt I end up making it my own somehow. I started making art quilts several years ago because of entering some challenges in my local quilt guild. I am now an art quilter!
