I have been crafting all my life as far back as I can remember. My Mum always provided me with crafty sewing projects and I had my first sewing machine when I was a small child, a gift from my Grandmother, who was a Tailoress and the other could knit any garment even some without a pattern, so I guess you could say it's in my blood.
I was taught to knit by my mum, but then exploring the subject as an adult learned Aran, Fairisle, intarsia, almost all techniques and made most garments for my children.
I have done may things in my lifetime, but when I was bringing my family of four boys up I taught myself to make clothes, soft furnishings, curtains, patchwork quilts almost everything I needed, probably if I'm honest out of sheer necessity of not having enough money.
I remember once buying a knitting machine to make my boys their school jumpers among many other jumpers and I ended up making them for most of the village children.
I have worked in trade, Soft Furnishings and Sportswear. I have done bespoke work for the video industry but currently I am a tutor working for the Workers Education Association. I teach sewing and crafts and basic patchwork and quilting. I love passing on my skills.
