I went to school in my late 40's to learn fashion design and to learn better sewing techniques. I learned to make patterns and design garments and loved it but decided that I'd rather stick with quilting. I learned a lot at school and use those skills now in my sewing projects.
I also own 3 alpacas! 2 females and 1 male. In the past 2 years I've learned to spin, weave and dye alpaca fiber. Dyeing fiber is sooooo much fun and a great way to get creative. At first I used commercial acid dyes. This past year I've been teaching myself to dye using plants and now use almost nothing but natural dyes and processes.
