I have been crafting since I was about 10. I first learned to knit and crochet. I really didn't like knitting very much but loved crocheting which I've done for about 40 years now. I have picked up knitting again about 5 years ago and have learned to love it. I started sewing in high school and did ok but didn't really have passion for it. I taught my self to quilt about 10 years ago and absolutely love it! I went to school in my late 40's to learn fashion design and to learn better sewing techniques. I learned to make patterns and design garments and loved it but decided that I'd rather stick with quilting. I learned a lot at school and use those skills now in my sewing projects. I also own 3 alpacas! 2 females and 1 male. In the past 2 years I've learned to spin, weave and dye alpaca fiber. Dyeing fiber is sooooo much fun and a great way to get creative. At first I used commercial acid dyes. This past year I've been teaching myself to dye using plants and now use almost nothing but natural dyes and processes.
