Just out of high school, I learned from my mother how to sew a quilt top. Mom was undergoing treatment for a serious illness at that point. I finished the top while she was in hospice care in my parents' home. Years later, I learned how to knit from a DVD while my dad was in hospice care at my home. Crafting, so it seems, is therapy for me. Though it may challenge me at times, it is ultimately soothing.
