As much as I like to call myself a quilter, what I really am is a needlewoman. I started sewing clothes when I was 5. I learned to knit, croquet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, embroider and do crewel work growing up. As much as I like to call myself a quilter, what I really am is a needlewoman. I started sewing clothes when I was 5. I learned to knit, croquet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, embroider and do crewel work growing up. I was lucky enough to have my mom, grandmother and aunt who encouraged me to sew and supported me through my first hit or miss attempts. I made my first quilt when I was a teen-ager for my next door neighbor's baby daughter (who now is a quilter.) After college, I made baby quilts for all my friends when they started having babies. When my first son was born, I started making larger quilts and just kept going. I enjoy patchwork, applique, paper-piecing, free-motion quilting and art quilting. I like for each of my quilts to have special meaning in the design related to the recipient. I enjoy trying out new techniques and making my own patterns. But mostly I love teaching quilters our craft.
