My high school home economics teacher inspired me to sew many years ago. My first machine was an $88.00 Singer that did straight stitching and zig zag. We have one daughter , when she entered Junior High, appliqued sweat shirts were the hottest item. My husband bought me a Bernina 930 in 1988, along with my first serger.
I became intrigued through the years as my precious mother-in-law shared her love of quilting and I was hooked. I upgraded to a Bernina 440 QE when our one and only granddaughter was born in 2004.
Working full time it was not always easy to find time to sew and quilt. I settled on piecing and quilting wall hangings and baby quilts. I enjoy quilting by hand and at present spend one day a week with a wonderful group of ladies hand quilting. We meet each Thursday, bring a pot luck dish and quilt.
I retired in 2009 after 44 years in public education, and spend much of my free time piecing and quilting. I would love to have a longarm, but can't justify the cost; the class '"Quilting big projects on a small machine" caught my eye. I am looking forward to 'continuing my quilting education'.
