I grew up in South Africa and enjoyed knitting from the age of fifteen. I dabbled in making my own clothes but really only started doing cross stitch and quilting at the age of forty when we moved to Newfoundland and i joined a needleworkers guild. I have to confess quilting is now somewhat of an obsession and I no longer need any excuse to make a quilt. All it takes is for me to see a new pattern or fabric or a visit with my wonderful quilting buddy, Janice, to be frantically cutting out more fabric and zipping the pieces together. Best quilting joke I ever heard was someone said they couldn't understand why anyone would want to cut fabric up into little pieces only to sew them all together again.
