I learned to sew from my mother. We used to go on adventures to the fabric store together. My mom sewed my wedding dress, made me business suits and even a pin-striped maternity jumper! I learned to sew from my mother. We used to go on adventures to the fabric store together. My mom sewed my wedding dress, made me business suits and even a pin-striped maternity jumper! I made my own clothes in college in the early 70's and then did very little sewing. I tried quilting when my oldest daughter was 10 or so - but found it very tedious. My daughters started quilting and used to spend rainy days (in Seattle) quilting and watching a "quilting movie" - most often a Jane Austin story. I re-discovered quilting and all the fabulous new techniques a couple of years ago and now I am back to sewing on a regular basis. It's something that my two daughters and I find brings us pleasure - and keeps us connected.
