I've been driven to make things for as long as I can remember. My knitting Mom and woodcarving Dad were great at encouraging creative interests in all 7 of us kids. Our home was pretty interesting and was where it seemed every stray, hurt or lost baby wild animal or bird ended up. We raised everything from striped gophers to a Great Horned Owl. (not at the same time) After knitting, sewing, weaving and embroidery, spinning seemed a natural thing to want to do and I taught myself in my early teens. Since then (after a break when my children were small) spinning (and the using of the yarn) has taken up much of my life. The architecture of yarn - the way it is constructed fascinates me and I have spent the past few years experimenting with handspun techniques and teaching. The culmination of these experiments was released in January 2013 through Storey Publishers. My book is "The Spinner's Book of Yarn Designs". I hope the spinners and future spinners out there enjoy it!
