My name is Cheri, I'm 55 years old and getting younger, and I started "knitting" when I was six and my mother was making a sweater for my father. My name is Cheri, I'm 55 years old and getting younger, and I started "knitting" when I was six and my mother was making a sweater for my father. She cast on about 20 stitches with blue yarn for me and I ended up with a "baby blanket" that was about 50 stitches wide with snarls, holes and God knows what! I threw my knitting down in disgust! Then at eight, my Nana taught me to crochet with a teeny tiny hook and cotton thread! Seriously? I took crocheting back up as a teen and became very proficient! Also learned to sew from my mom and my favorite class in high school was Home Ec! (Do they still teach Home Ec in schools? I have no idea...my teenage daughter has zero interest in needle arts!) I have always been very fiber oriented and have tried just about everything, embroidery, quilting, more knitting and cross stitch. Cross stitch was my passion in the eighties but when I ended up with bi-focals in the nineties, I couldn't cross stitch anymore! Just couldn't switch my vision from pattern to my work! So frustrating! I've gone back to crocheting and knitting again. I've been taking the knitting classes on Craftsy...AWESOME!...and I have a new passion: lace knitting! Eyesight - don't fail me now! So here I am, surrounded by yarn with knitting needles sticking out of my hair! Love it! See ya in stitches! (Hey! I should have kept that first blue piece! Who knew I was knitting lace!)
