I've been a crafter since Junior High, yep, back in the dark ages. I started by learning to knit, then crochet, then water color painting, then oils, then china painting, Then I discovered card making which led to scrapbooking, which led to digital scrapbooking. I'd always loved quilts, coming from a farming family. But I'd convinced myself I couldn't sew. That is until a few years ago. One day I bought a sewing machine and brought it home, where it sat in the box for a year. Finally I unpacked it with a now or never attitude and discovered that with some teaching I could sew something that didn't look like an apron. I learned about a Quilt Shop across town and their block of the month, so off I went once a month for a year. Along the way I took a few classes from them and made some quilts I'm proud of. I learned something with each experience. Now two years in and about a dozen quilts later I'm begining to be happy with my quilting the quilts. My friends say quilters are not patient, they are determined, and I have to agree. We'll find a way to make lots of fabric look different with each new pattern, and enjoy the challenge as we go. I'm so glad I proved myself wrong, I can sew. It may not be perfection, but it sure is perfect fun. Happy Quilting! Design wall - I used those little removable pull doent hooks and 2 yards of 60" felt, most of the time the fabric just stick right up with a little gentle wipe across the block. once I've quilted I use quilt pins to hold it in place long enough to take photos. When I take a project down I pull the loose threads that remain off the wall so that it stays clean and lint free.
