In the middle 1960's I taught myself to knit mainly to create ski sweaters for family members. For a few years in the 1970's I had a yarn shop in my home where I sold English and Norwegian woolens. All of that got tucked away until three years ago when I re-discovered my knitting needles. Now I knit with a group of women that I've organized locally. Talents abound! Knitting scarves allows me to keep learning new patterns and ways to interpret instructions that sometimes are not clear! I've also organized a group of women that knit or crochet prayer shawls. So in retirement I've found a way to make time meaningful and useful.
