I learnt to hand stitch when I was 7. It was the blanket stitch. When I was 12, I learnt the satin stitch. Many years later, I bought my first sewing machine and attended a dressmaking course at a Dressmaking Institute. I was taught by a teacher who believed in drafting and sewing from scratch.
