I'm 71 and love to do handwork but I'm very slow. My hands don't work like they did when I was younger. My aunt taught me to crochet when I was seven years old. And my mother taught me to embroidery when I was about seven or eight. I started learning to quilt about 15 years ago and am now try to learn to knit. I do cross stitch as well as canvas stitch. I'm very interested in doing projects for charities but it's difficult since I am so slow at it. By the time I get the project done, the deadline has passed.
I've made quilts for all three of my great grandchildren and three granddaughters and crocheted afghans for two granddaughters and one grandson. That was before I learned to quilt. I'm working on an afghan now for a grandson who is a policeman. I hope to finish it by Christmas. Also working on a quilt for my kingsize bed. for about four years now (it's all handwork).
