Mom and I used to sew together while I was growing up in NYC. We would send scrap fabric to my grandmother, who lived in Alabama, so she could make quilts. While I never had the opportunity to witness her making quilts, I had always wanted to quilt. A year ago, a member of one of my book clubs (who quilts) suggested that we make a friendship quilt just as was done by the characters in the book we were reading. Well, I discovered quilting ideas and techniques on Youtube and decided to try them on my own, in addition to working with my newly formed quilt group. My quilting journey this past year has been a wonderful ride. We have now formed a quilt ministry at our church.
