I have been sewing and making things, crocheted, knitted, sewn, since I was a child. I grew up in a "plain" home, one step off Mennonite and it was ok to sew on Sundays. Not much else. My grandmother was a quilter at the church each week and my mother sewed most of our clothes, which was pretty gruesome. But I sewed for years and then finally something someone said at the Viking store made sense to me. I asked why she liked quilting and she said "It doesn't have to fit." I was very puzzled until I found out about quilting and I have never looked back. It was love at first quilt. I teach it now in our small community as a sustainable income project. I and six other volunteers teach women how to sew more efficiently and quickly and then to make quilted projects which sell pretty well We are going on three years of teaching and over 200 students taught.
