I grew up with my mother, my aunts, and mother's close friends spending many afternoons coming together for quilting parties. I was not interested at all. My cousin and I would spend the afternoon playing under the quilt on the frame playing and getting into trouble by pushing up the quilt! After I married I enjoyed sewing and since I was left-handed taught myself, as mom found it difficult to get me to 'catch on.' Now that I've retired I am so so ready for quilting! Prior to this year I'd made several small baby quilts for my grandsons and cousins. Now, I am attempting for the first time to actually quilt a baby quilt by hand, instead of the sewing machine and I'm loving it! I almost FEEL my mom smiling down on me from heaven!
