I'm a wife of nearly 40 years and a grandmother of seven amazing kids. My sweet husband is my knitting cheerleader. I love to teach anyone who's interested in learning to knit. I call myself "Short Row" because I'm only 4' 11" tall.... and my husband is 6' 5".
I learned to crochet as a very young child, taught by our grandmotherly next door neighbor. However, as with most people, I didn't do anything with my crochet skills for quite awhile. I've been into sewing most of my life, making doll clothes as a child, school clothes while in high school, and children's clothes for my kids. A good friend from church taught me to knit in my 20's... I was expecting and so were many in our social circle. So, I made baby sweaters for a short while. Then, busy with family and babies, I put the needles down and didn't take them up again until my first granddaughter, who is now 13, was born (though I did follow other crafty pursuits during that time...sewing, card making, cooking, etc.) After finally picking up the needles again, I taught myself more and more mostly from books... then someone gave me "Stitch 'N Bitch" by Debbie Stoller" and it was all over!... I haven't stopped knitting since.
You can find me on Ravelry as "MirabellesGrandma" and on Flickr as "Esther Knits."
