I started sewing at the age of 13 when I took a summer class at out local craft and sewing store. I feel in love with it immediately. My Mother didn't sew or crochet or knit so I had no one to really learn it from till I took that class. I made a very simple dress but I was very proud to model it in the show they put on. I learned all the basics of how to use a sewing machine and later on when I was in my twenties I bought one that I used to make other things. After my second daughter was born I decided to take a quilting class at the local community center with all the senior citizens. I loved that even more.
I also was a military wife for about 5 yrs and the wives would all get together and teach each other how to do various crafts. There, I learned how to do macrame, crochet and knit. I've had a tough time finding the alone time to keep doing my crafting but every few years I manage to complete a project or two.
I'm so happy to find craftsy and I'm looking forward to doing some quilting. I bought myself a new sewing machine for my birthday and am looking forward to quilting again. I'm especially exciting to start scrap quilting, as I have accumulated alot of fabric that I want to make use of.
Can't wait to get started! My goal is to make a quilt for my new granddaughter Charlie. So excited!
