Back in 1986 my mom decided to get into teaching herself to quilt. She was always good at making clothes,curtains,upholstery so why not quilting. It wasn't as easy then as it is now. She had to draft her patterns to fit what she wanted . That is where I get so lost. Math and me,like wandering in a foreign land,a strange language I have never heard. Bah! So, in order to have something in common with her,I decided to go with her to quilt places. I started collecting fabric. Anyone ever just "pet" fabric? I sure did. Anyway, I was hooked. Took me a while before I got a quilt done, with the biggest help from my mom. My hubby received the first quilt I completed. He still uses it.I look at it and wish I had placed the one fabric in a different place.I know that noone does that, right? Lol. Perfection, my downfall. Toss a lot into a corner. My son rescued one, I had it quilted and it is now proudly displayed on his bed. Doesn't look half bad :0) Quilting hides a multitude of flaws. I love fabric,patterns, books and quilting people.For the most part the quilters are warm and sharing and some downright fun.There are a few that are rude and oh so prim. Takes all kinds in the quilt world. We all do the same thing. Create,select,cut,piece,quilt. So, get over yourselves. We are all perfection in the makings. In the end, the result is appreciation by sometimes self but mostly by those that see them. I love it. Now since mom is gone, my beautiful sister has taken up moms quilting torch ( and also all her quilt room ). She is a Doctor, now semi-retired. She does beautiful work. Her quilt stitches are perfection.I am so proud of her. Happy creating and quilting. Get er done.! Someone is waiting...wanting...lusting..after that finished quilt.
