I've been sewing for 43 years and enjoy creating garments and quilts, with a few cross stitch and needlepoint projects thrown in for good measure. Though my main career is as a professional singer and private voice teacher, I look forward to those cherished moments when I can get into my sewing room and work on my latest challenge.
I first started sewing in my Home Ec class and have enjoyed the continual learning process (especially most recently with Craftsy online classes) ever since then. Love this site and love the classes!
The first sewing machine I used was my mom's feather-weight Singer. Then we inherited my great-grandmother's Singer treadle machine which I loved using too. In High School my mom bought me a Singer "Genie". It had orange "Flower Power" decorations which was fun. I made all my prom dresses with that and I've saved it for my daughter though I have yet to convince her to learn to use it.
Now I sew with a Pfaff "Jeans and Satin" machine which has stood me in good stead in recent years. My dream machine would be a Pfaff "Creative Expressions" machine but that seems "pie in the sky" at this point.
