I took good old Home Economics in the 70's in school...I loved it, and don't know why they don't teach it anymore in the same way. I love most anything creative, but mostly I have done sewing of clothing, and some other small things, like homemade diapers made of flannel that are really, really cute! I have a pattern for them, and you basically cut a shape that has the appropriate form for a baby's bottom where the back can be pinned to the front on both sides. You cut two different pieces of flannel that shape, one being a print color, and one being a plain color. Then you cut two or three long pieces of white flannel for in-between the legs where the baby needs extra protection, and you sew the diaper pieces together, stitching the white flannel in-between at the same time, then you turn it...I think I told you right, but you get the idea anyway. I have also taken some very good crochet classes which were divided into two series for 6 weeks each, at one of our local adult community education classes in one of our school districts. Most of our school districts offer fun enrichment classes for adults, as well as our university, Pioneer Craft House...and well, I don't have the time to mention everywhere. I learned a lot, and would like to try to do some crocheted projects. I also have tried classes in knitting, but I still am having a hard time correcting my mistakes, even on the basic stitches, so I was glad to learn that Miriam Felton, who will be teaching a local class at a Lifelong Learning Program at our local university, also has a class on Craftsy, and it is on correcting mistakes! I was thrilled to learn that! I also would like to learn how to make soap, bath salts, lip balm, bubble bath, and other beauty products from natural sources and any sources which are good for skin. I also would like to learn how to quilt, possibly tatting, and maybe beading. I know that I need to update my accessories to update my self image. As for sewing, I would like to try all aspects of it, from clothing to quilting as I already said, to home decoration, craft sewing, accessories, children's clothing....and yes, even clothing for men. If I left anything out of the sewing categories, add that too! Thanks for asking my interests! Oh, I almost forgot,...I am really interested in the fine arts, and any type of painting is fun too, and I also like, and people say I am good at lettering. Calligraphy is a good way to learn to do fine lettering. Anyway, those are my goals that I am sure will take more than this life to accomplish, but I am getting a good start anyway.
