My Mum and Nanas all knitted. They taught me to knit around age 4 and I just continued from there. When I was a teenager, I used to knit jumpers and tops and by the time I got each one finished, I was sick of the sight of it so never wore any of them.
I learned to cross stitch and crewel embroidery and loved both. I also learned drawn thread work and hardanger which I adore. Our Home is full of framed work on the walls and bellpulls too and then a few years ago, a good friend re-introduced me to knitting.
She showed me a book from Cheryl Oberle called Folk Shawls and that was it for me. Haven't stopped knitting since. I wear everything I make except for the dozens of gifts I have also made. No jumpers :-)
I spindle spin too and am learning to wheel spin.
