My mother sat me down the summer I turned 12 and said, my grandmother didn't sew but her mother did and it was an every other generation craft and she wasn't going to sew for me the rest of my life. :-) I was very large and they didn't have the shops they do now for large young girls and women so I made my own clothes, mom would make me one outfit a year but pay for all my fabric patterns and so forth. It was nothing for me to come home from school, whip out an outfit and wear it that night on a date, remember polyester double knit, ugh. I didn't sew very much for many years only for things around the house and then I got an embroidery machine with inheritance money, that was all she wrote. But still not a quilter yet. My daughter had been drooling over a Dooney & Bourke handbag, I had never heard of it, not a fashion follower, so I found some fabric I thought she's like and made a bag, which she said looked like a Dooney & Bourke handbag, go figure, I've been making purses ever since. But quilting has always been, NEVER FOR ME, until this free class BOM. I'm having a ball and can hardly wait to finish and try my hand at more. Thank you Craftsy and Amy Gibson, you make it fun!
