After failing miserably trying to learn to knit with my Brownie troop, I taught myself to knit when I was 11 yrs old and home with the mumps. My mom bought me a "learn to knit' book, some yarn, and some needles. Have loved doing it ever since. Several decades ago I taught myself to knit continental style, using Elizabeth Zimmerman's "Knitting Without Tears", and love knitting this way.
