I have been teaching myself pattern drafting since I early retired to Turkey, and have expanded my smocking skills to. My first pattern and design was recently published in Australian Smocking and Embroidery Magazine, and another item ( a contemporary piece in silk georgette) has just been accepted for publication.
I will be relocating back to the U.K. in the coming months and plan to set up smocking classes.
I am enjoying the challenge of teaching myself pattern drafting.
Having the online classes through craftsy is wonderful as there are no classes where I live in Turkey; it makes me feel connected to like minded people!!
Since writing this I have settled back home in Lincolnshire.............Craftsy is still a lifeline in terms of the classes as there is nothing in my area in terms of classes, or even decent fabric and habadashery stores!! Craftsy keeps me connected to other sewists and is a fabulous resource!!
