I've always been a crafter. From school crafts to crafts in Brownies and Girl Scouts. My mother was an at home seamstress so there was always fabric around. I loved (and still love) to go through my moms fabric and crafting stuff. I first started sewing by making clothes for my Barbie Dolls. Then I took Home Ec in Middle school and learned how to sew clothes for myself. I started quilting after a visit to my sister (PamelaQuilts) in Oregon when my daughters were young. I thought quilting (especially hand-quilting and fancy patterns) was something that was just handed down in the family (I have a beautiful quilt that my grandma made-nothing really fancy, just a crazy quilt with all sorts of patches put together, but the hand-quilting shells are exquisite). My sister got me started with my first rotary cutter, mat and ruler and I made a twin size rail fence quilt. A daunting task for a beginner (not the pattern, but the size). And I hand-quilted it. I have done many quilts over the years, some big, some little. Tried many different techniques, appliqué and paper-peicing. I've always had projects going (not always actively though). I've worked at JoAnn's and have done piecework for a renaissance fair crafter. I'm excited to have a place to showcase my work and love my followers (it inspires me to do more projects). I'm loving the free-motion quilting I am learning as it is helping me actually finish tops that I have had made for years (I love the look of hand-quilting, but it can be time consuming and there is just not enough time to do that and all the other things I love to do).
