One of my passions is sewing. Been at it since I was 11. I'll be 66, so you can do the math! I had the greatest teacher ... my Mom! She was a fabulous sewer and I learned so much from her. In fact, I have her Singer machine on which I learned to sew. I named her "Tootsie" in honor of my Mom! My first quilt I ever made was a project I found, I believe, in a Woman's Day magazine years ago ... probably in the 70's. It was a quilt in a weekend log cabin quilt. Each block was made separately -backing, batting and top. Then the completed blocks were connected. I was so proud of the quilt. I continued to sew, but never another quilt until my Mom was in a nursing home. I made her a quilt in the card tricks pattern. She loved to play cards. Time passed and still no more quilts. There were a couple of baby quilts along the way, but nothing major. Well, I have been in love with quilting since last year! I'm semi retired and the quilting is such a joy. I've made 2 baby quilts, 7 quilts, 3 table toppers, and mug rugs this past year.
I'm enjoying this class very much. It's always wonderful to learn new techniques. There's a lot I have not done, so it will be a challenge. My husband is enjoying it along with me. He's always there for support and he get's as excited about each block as I do! So great to have someone share in your passion. It's also great to see everyone's blocks! You are all so creative and I love being able to say "Wow" when I look at them.
