My mom started me crafting when I was very young in the early 60's. My best friend would come to visit and my mom would set us up in the back yard on an old quilt with our Barbie dolls, thread, needles and fabric scraps. We would work for hours creating the silliest make-shift clothes for our dolls. Mom taught me to sew on her machine when I was in my teens, when my friend and I also took up crocheting together. Then there was embroidery and cross stitch and macrame .... and on and on. I grew up, bought a sewing machine and made clothes for myself and my children. And then Life got in the way and most of my crafting was put on a back burner. Now I have the luxury of enjoying partial retirement and I have become fairly obsessed with crafting again. First I went back to crocheting and needlework, then I taught myself to knit and then I returned to sewing. My latest adventures in crafting have been learning to quilt, with help from my Craftsy classes, and I am absolutely loving it!! And now I have the pleasure of having passed on my love of crafting to my granddaughter. I taught her to crochet when she was 7 and she took up making all kinds of amigurumis and is completely into Ravelry. She has her own website and sells her crocheted animal creations. I'm so proud of her - she's such a little entrepreneur! With all my craft loves, I have decided I need at least 3 lifetimes to explore, create, and finish all the projects I dream of (and have purchased materials for)!
