I am not sure how old I was, but the first thing that I remember sewing was a pillow case. My mother had me making a large pillow case into a smaller one and don't even remember why. I am not sure how old I was, but the first thing that I remember sewing was a pillow case. My mother had me making a large pillow case into a smaller one and don't even remember why. All I know is that sewing a straight line wasn't as easy as it looked. At the time I attended junior and senior high school, we had "home economics" classes, part of the year was coking and part of the year was sewing. That is where my love for sewing blossomed. I had an awesome instructor and aspired to someday be half as good as she was.
When I had my children, all girls, I wanted to do as my mother had done, dress them all alike for holidays such as Easter and Christmas. I wasn't always able to, but still have the things that I made for them and have actually handed down a few items to them for their own little ones.
I now make matching outfits for my 3 grandchildren.
I enjoy knitting an crocheting as well.
