Started sewing on an old Singer treadle machine when I was very small. I had to stand up to treadle because I was to short to sit. I started hand stitching with my grandmother well before I went to school. I stilll have a tray cloth which I made then.
I sewed all through my life until my children were about 3 and seven and we bought a Pharmacy. Time became short and I did little until the girls left home when I started a city and guilds course. Having finished part one and started part two my life fell apart.
I was diagnosed with Leukemia and had a long course of treatment followed by a bone marrow transplant. I found it difficult to go back to city and guilds and my concentration was poor so I did little sewing for a while.
I now have two grandaughters and my sewing is changing again to dressing up clothes and bags etc. Never a dull moment.
