I have always been interested in sewing as a young child. My Great-Aunt Essie taught me to hand embroider baby blocks from the Ben Franklin store in Green Bay, WI when I was in grade school. As I grew older, I liked making skirts for myself but after kids didn't find the time.
Nov/Dec 2003, I was retiring from 33 years at the same transportation company. My husband said I needed to figure out a hobby to occupy my time. We then purchased an embroidery machine. I did this hobby and still do but decided to try my hand in quilting after my husband kept asking for a quilt for his truck sleeper while over the road. I took a class at Quilt Trends to learn basics and have gone from there.
I love the art of creating and have incorporated embroidery and applique into making quilts. I am trying to make one small quilt a month for an organization I started back in 2004 embroidering fleece blankets for children in child services.
I am a grandma of 3 grandsons and a grand-daughter so have opportunities to quilt for them and make them pillowcases too.
I have been married to a wonderful, Godly man for 20+ years now. He had been over the road driver for most of the time but recently took a 250 mile radius driving job and home nightly and weekends. We are enjoying this new chapter of our lives and he loves seeing me create my sewing projects. Without his support, I probably would not have started and continued. Thanking God everyday for what I have.
