I love crafting! When I was little (maybe 7-8) I always made little doll clothes for my small dolls out of napkins and tissues. Then my dad helped me with sewing some clothes for myself when I was a young teen.
I taught myself to knit but never got past knit & purl - I don't care for kitting - it takes too long!
Then I taught myself to crochet when I was pregnant with my first baby and made lots of things for her and countless afghans! - also loved sewing her clothes. Now I sew for my grandkids too.
My aunt taught me to macrame (now there's something that's disappeared!) and I was so excited that I taught my sister - via long distance phone call!!! We had so much fun with that that we actually made and sold lots of stuff.
A friend taught me to do counted cross stitch - then that became my love and I made lots of gifts with that.
I always wanted to learn to quilt and tried to teach myself a couple of times but never got past reading the book! It just seemed like it took too long-with all the cutting & pressing! I like "instant gratification" as I like to say. I like to see things move along when I'm spending a couple of hours working on a project.
About 4 years ago my sister and I took a quilting class at a local library taught by an older woman who just loved to quilt. It was fun and now I love quilting! This Craftsy Block of the month is teaching me so much - I get very intimidated sometimes, so going at my own pace really helps!
I always have a few different projects going on - and crocheting is always my go to when I need something to do in a hurry! Thanks for listening!!!
Happy Crafting!!!
