My name is Amy, (Mimers on Ravelry). and I have lived in the Hudson Valley in NY for all my life. I love it here. I am married to a wonderful man who loves that I knit. Don't hate me, but he is a chef and that means I never (and I mean never) cook. It is his kitchen after all! :) I have 2 kids, Joe and Rachael, that are pretty much grown up now. My daughter is graduating HS in just one week and my son is 25 now. My Grandma and Aunt knit all the time while I was a kid. I was so impressed by the beautiful things they made. How amazing! My sisters and I always got warm, wooly mittens and hats from them as well as wonderful sweaters. It was one of the ways they shared their love with others. This is how I feel when I knit. That I am sharing my love with others. I would be amazed watching how fast they knit and the beautiful things they made. Grandma taught me the basics when I was young, but I ended up going to Crochet for most of my childhood. I didn't have the patience for knitting back then. Here and there over the years I would knit something, but rarely did I finish anything. It wasn't until around 2004 that I really accomplished something. That was the Fair Isle sweater from Philosopher's Wool. Now that my kids are older and I have a lot more free time, I look forward to making lots of wonderful things for my family and friends including patterns of my own design!
