My Grandma and Aunt knit all the time while I was a kid. I was so impressed by the beautiful things they made. How amazing! My sisters and I always got warm, wooly mittens and hats from them as well as wonderful sweaters. It was one of the ways they shared their love with others. This is how I feel when I knit. That I am sharing my love with others.
I would be amazed watching how fast they knit and the beautiful things they made. Grandma taught me the basics when I was young, but I ended up going to Crochet for most of my childhood. I didn't have the patience for knitting back then.
Here and there over the years I would knit something, but rarely did I finish anything. It wasn't until around 2004 that I really accomplished something. That was the Fair Isle sweater from Philosopher's Wool.
Now that my kids are older and I have a lot more free time, I look forward to making lots of wonderful things for my family and friends including patterns of my own design!
