I've been knitting since I was 17 by making 2 sweaters: one a raglan sleeve sweater and one 100% wool grey turtleneck sweater with 3 cables on the front. My inspiration to keep on knitting was a exchange student friend in high school from Norway, Signe Hansen. Hei Signe, if you are out there! By the time I was 18, I knitted a Nordic Style "Dancing Girls and Boys" pattern (you Scandinavians should know that pattern very well) in 100% wool, with the predominate color forest green, the boys and girls and flecks between them in white and the borders in dark red. I went on to make a 100% wool Icelandic Lopi sweater when I was 20 and discovered circular needles and knitting in the round. I really enjoy knitting but since 1985, I've took a hiatus and just began to start knitting again this winter of 2012. Oh dear, my hands just don't have the dexterity that they did when I was 20 but I do it anyway because I love it. It just takes me longer. ;-) My favorite knitting is Norwegian Nordic style knitting, since I'm of Norwegian heritage. I did crochet back in my younger days but just didn't have the knack yet and have trouble following crochet patterns. So since I've resumed knitting, I'm attempting to master crochet.
