Thanks to a patient and brave Mum and my Home Economics teacher in High School I started dressmaking at 13. Since then have made a couple of Ball dresses and a silver wedding dress for my nieces. Joining a local patchwork group years later I started traditional patchwork. My first brush with something a bit different was attending a Trash Bag Quilting workshop which became a bit of a passion for me. Time and energy was limited for quite a few years though with full time work.
Moving to the island freed up my time, energy and creativity. I stumbled on an Arts Quilting website which inspired and motivated me like nothing else and am now busy learning many new (to me) techniques and spend much more time back at my machine (Brother embroidery machine). It's a bit like starting all over again as I feel refreshed and I am having a wonderful time playing and learning and creating :)
