I started sewing when I was maybe 8 yrs old. My aunt would set me down with a needle and a long piece of thread and a piece of cloth to keep me busy as she sewed. I always loved making things and as I grew I learned to sew my own clothes. At 12 I made my first dress and at 18 I won my first sewing contest. I married at 18 and made my attendants gowns and then started sewing for others. When my babies were born I started sewing for them and them crocheting sweaters and afghans for them. Now I crochet for my grandkids and 2 years ago I started quilting and added a new love to my crafting. Making something with my own hands is just so fulfilling and fun I can't imagine not doing anything creative with my time, especially now that I am retired.
