My aunt taught me how to crochet when I was 10. Have been doing some sort of crafting ever since! Growing up, my grandmother(s) had quilts on all of the beds and in the cedar cabinet just waiting for the time it was needed! I have very fond memories of running around their farms but even fonder memories of sleeping in the feather bed with the quilts mounded so thick it was hard to move! Mostly the styles were simple, functional so when I de died I wanted to make a quilt I first started with making a crib size rag quilt for my first grandchild (due any day). Since we didn't know the gender, I made 2.... One boy /one girl themed. That worked out fairly well so on to big size!
My influence was the memories of my grandmas.... So the basket weave quilt was made with them in mind. I tied it instead of stitching ( can remember playing with those little red strings on the quilt) whenever I sit underneath this very warm/heavy quilt it takes me back to a very happy time!
Now working on a chevron(or zigzag whichever you prefer) quilt! Excited to see it coming together.
I am not perfect, but every project comes from my heart! As I was told by a close friend....." If they want perfection then they can buy manufactured"
