I started crafting when I was very little, around 6 or so. I basically sat under and learned from whoever would teach me what they were doing. My grandmother embroidered, sewed, designed/ made patterns, a neighbor and friend of the family crocheted, others like my mom baked ( I'm not so good at that unless you count my apple pie, and you really should=-D), and I picked up an addiction to wood working and leather crafting somewhere along the way. ... I did as an adult have to pay for knitting lessons, and to round out my repertoire I began spinning and weaving last year.
To sum it up, I will just say, I love crafting.
