Knitting is my most favorite thing to do even though I also know how to crochet and counted cross stitch. I basically taught myself to knit from books and You Tube. I was taught how to crochet by my sister in-law 40 years ago, but still my favorite is knitting. I consider myself an intermediate knitter, though I have knitted a few difficult patterns.
