While working at a children's daycare in the 90's, I met my friend Astrid. When my husband and I were expecting our first grandchild in 2000, Astrid suggested we make a baby quilt together and give it to the baby as a joint gift. Never having quilted before, I loved that idea and away we went with our crafting! It was the first quilt I'd ever made and I was hooked! I made our oldest granddaughter a second larger quilt when she got a bit older, but she still has that first quilt! Astrid moved back to England a few years ago but we continue to stay in touch through snail mail and see each other when she travels to the USA to visit family. Since our first quilting, I have made many quilts and a few quilted items over the years.
Although I haven't worked on any ceramics for some time (we don't have any shops nearby to buy them ready to decorate), I do enjoy that craft and recently have begun to re-learn how to sew clothing and other items. I enjoy music and rented a clarinet to learn how to play that instrument, having played piano, flute and saxophone during my school years. Our oldest granddaughter plays clarinet in her elementary school band and we thought it would be nice to play the instrument together. I love to take photographs, mostly of nature, and am an avid reader.
I have been married for 37 years to my high school sweetheart. We have three grown children and three grandchildren. Our oldest child is special needs and lives at home with us and our Basenji (dog breed). Since 2010 I've been a stay-at-home wife/ mother and have been the main caregiver for our adult child.
