I began beading in 1980 and progressed from that point on. It fell away during University days but the older I got, the more I wanted to do more with it. I enjoy beading, both stringing and weaving, I work with Swarovski crystals and other vintage beads and materials. I also apprenticed as a silver smith for 5 years with 2 different and talented smiths. Also, during that time, I learned weaving and spinning from people that had been doing this for years. I lived at the time in an Artisans community. It was such a joy for me. I also loved 18th C. re-enactments and demonstrating spinning and weaving to children and adults. Meanwhile, I kept up with my jewelry beading and silversmithing also. I have continued in that way, but have switched to the Art Clay for silver work as I love sculpture and jewelry fabrication and this is such a wonderful blend of the two. I use a torch right now. I had to also figure out a way to still work in silver as my home situation changed and where I am, I cannot use an oxyA set up. So this is a wonderful mix of both worlds.
