My mother and grandmother taught me to use color, sew, embroider (which I have forgotten how to do), and make braided rugs. My grandmother and aunt quilted using scraps and used clothing. By the time I was 12-13, I was making most of my clothing, which continued through high school. I gave up sewing for many decades. I decided to try quilting about 2 years ago and now I am hooked. The fabrics are so wonderful these days.
