I started crafting as a very small child. I always wanted to do whatever my mother was doing at the time. She owned a complete set of craft encyclopedias and I grew up reading them and wanting to learn more. I started crafting as a very small child. I always wanted to do whatever my mother was doing at the time. She owned a complete set of craft encyclopedias and I grew up reading them and wanting to learn more. She taught me how to crochet and embroidery around 5 and then I taught myself counted cross-stitch as a teen. I taught myself to knit during a divorce that knocked the wind out of me. I needed a distraction and brought a Learn to Knit kit. It worked. I spent hours learning to cast on from that book and then learned to knit contenintal however I wasn't sure I was knitting. I went to a local knitting shop to ask and was literally slapped on the hand by the 'guru' there. She told me not to do it that way and showed me the English method of throwing and I've felt myself a knitter since. Of course later I'd want to learn to knit contenintal and paid for a workshop to learn. It's still funny when I think of it. I was a knitter all along. Knitting is still a daily passion for me. I knit for those I love and charity. And I've spent lots of time learning new and advanced techniques over the years. I can't and won't live without fiber arts!
