Manager of Finance & Accounting
Charity has been in the accounting field for over 15 years and has previous experience in the medical insurance, construction management and software industries. She has always called Colorado home; even when she was working for nearly two years in Hawaii (she now has a collection in her closet of one-too-many Tommy Bahama Aloha shirts). She received her BS in Accounting right in the heart of downtown Denver at Metropolitan State College. Prior to joining Sympoz/Craftsy, she most recently worked at a human capital management software and technology company where she held the title of Accounting Manager and kept all of the financial ducks in a row. She was also heavily involved with workforce management, with responsibilities ranging from onboarding to employee compensation and benefit administration.
She has a knack for numbers and is analytical, however uses the right side of her brain as often as possible. She was the editor of her high school yearbook and continues her interest in journalism, photography, page layout and embellishments through scrapbooking. She also designs and makes cards for all occasions with the help from rubber stamps, embossing powders and her Cricut®. She is known to plan elaborate birthday parties for her two sons (you should see the Cookie Monster invites and Tow-Mater cupcakes). She also enjoys playing golf, yoga, watching live football and baseball, and is a recent P90X graduate. She loves being outdoors and aspires to own a second home in Estes.
Sr. VP of Finance & Accounting
Karyn is an Ohioan by birth and a member of the Gator Nation by choice. Karyn spends every Saturday during the fall watching Gator football and any other football team that would have implications on the Gator’s ranking. Although she does admit that her interest in football each year is determined by how high the Gators are ranked.
Karyn brings over 20 years of accounting experience to Sympoz, including 11 years as the CFO of both public and private companies in the media, IT, and financial services industries. Karyn brings deep experience in implementing the policies and procedures necessary to ensure profitable and sustainable growth for start-up companies, establishing human resource functions, and creating value for shareholders. She expects to be able to repeat this at Sympoz in her current role.
Karyn’s husband was very excited for her to join Craftsy in the hopes that she might actually learn to sew on a button instead of just throwing the shirt away when one pops off.
Director of Analytics
Greg Sturr grew up in Colorado and Wyoming and after spending nine years in South Carolina and Tennessee he is very happy to now be living in Boulder. Greg is an avid cyclist and is passionate about spending as much time as possible outdoors.
Greg has spent over 17 years in the financial services industry in various risk management, operations, financial analysis, and pricing roles before joining Craftsy as the Director of Analytics in the Finance department. Greg is very excited to finally be working for a company which provides a service that customers love because it enriches their lives.
While Greg is not yet a crafty person, he does have a talent for bicycle repair and maintenance. In the spirit of Craftsy, he loves teaching people how to care for their bikes and is always willing to help people with their repairs.
Accounts Payable Specialists
Shirley grew up in Colorado, and feels like a native, even though she was born in Pennsylvania. She’s lived here since she was four years old and her only memories of childhood are of Colorado. In total, she’s got almost 20 years of accounting experience and loves working with numbers and people. Before joining Craftsy, she worked in the Finance department at an advertising agency in Lakewood. All of her free time is spent with her family, which consists of her wonderful husband, son, twin daughters and their husbands, and her gorgeous one-year-old granddaughter. She credits her granddaughter for reminding her of her passion for sewing.
Shirley is so excited to have the opportunity to work at a great company like Craftsy! She is looking forward to improving her sewing skills, learning some new crafts, and making new friends here at Craftsy!
Ted grew up in Massachusetts and after living in New York City for eight years is happy to be in Colorado with easy access to the Rocky Mountains. Ted is happy to be out of a cramped apartment and into a house with unlimited access to biking and skiing. He also enjoys camping, hiking, traveling, cooking and exploring local restaurants.
Prior to joining Craftsy, Ted studied finance at NYU and worked in financial services for four years in New York. Now he is excited to be moving on and joining a dynamic start up. He has an analytical mind and hopes to be able to contribute Craftsy’s continued growth.
Ted’s real name is Edward, not Theodore, which is something that many people find strange. He also goes by Teddy.
Amber joined Craftsy after a not-so-exciting five years working in accounting at a specialty steel company.
She also briefly co-owned and operated an independent coffee shop and bakery in Denver, where she took care of both the bookkeeping and the baking, often entering invoices or preparing the week’s payroll between batches of vegan mimosa cupcakes. Whiskey, champagne, and espresso are her favorite baking ingredients.
She really, really, really likes cats, and shares two blue-eyed cat-children, Monk and Mao, with her photographer boyfriend.
Lauren is a Colorado native with Canadian roots. All the childhood trips to visit extended family in Canada definitely infected her with a travel bug. One of her favorite trips was her study abroad experience in New Zealand, where she did everything from zorbing (rolling down a hill inside a ball) to bungee jumping. Nevertheless, Lauren cannot deny her love for Colorado and expects she will always call it home.
After years of vowing she would never be an accountant like her parents, Lauren graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an accounting degree. She found she had a knack for numbers and finally realized that an accounting job at the right kind of company could actually be exciting.
Before coming to Craftsy, Lauren spent almost six years working on resort and corporate accounting in the ski industry.
When she is not crunching numbers, Lauren enjoys comedy shows, snowboarding, hosting dinner parties, and spending time with her family. She hopes working at Craftsy will help inspire her to actually complete one of the DIY projects she’s been dreaming about.
