Can you explain how you got the hair to look like that??!! I love it!

I just pulled a few strands of hair through the chains at the top of his head and down his back and knotted them. I played around with the placement to get the right look and then I unwound the yarn to give it the frayed look.

For everyone interested in amigurumi there is a tutorial listed here - http://allaboutami.tumblr.com/post/7843360896/invisibledecrease that you should read. It teaches a way to decrease without having the 'holes' in your piece. They also have a link to a tutorial for the magic circle used to begin most round pieces.

Be careful that you don't give this zebra to a child who still puts everything in their mouth. The buttons are a choking hazzard.

Well when I make Amigurumi I use safety eyes they are still not recommended for kids under three but they are almost impossible to get off.
difair on craftsy.com
Jul 28, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
I used safety eyes for the eyes. The buttons are sewn on using hand quilting thread so they are fairly secure. This zebra went to an adult though.

Jul 31, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
Hello! You can also crochet four buttons and embroider the eyes to make it totally child prof! (: I have done this 100 times for all my custom order for those that do not crochet.

I've never tried amigurumi, but I can't wait to try this! How big is the finished piece?
difair on craftsy.com
Jul 28, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
My finished Zeb was about 4 1/2 inches high. I used a dk weight yarn and a size 2 crochet hook.
Madisoncrftnook on craftsy.com
Jul 31, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
If you use the materials indicated in the pattern. Then the Zebra will stand 8-9 inches tall. Amigurumi's are so much fun to make! Once you try you will get hooked! (:
