What was your inspiration?

pearl like textures in plied yarns, art yarns,

What are you most proud of?

finding several ways to spin the same yarn. These are variations on spiral ply, bound boucle', and multiple plied yarns. Going for texture, texture, texture. The yarn on the left is autowrapped and plied with commercial laceweight yarn. The yarns on the right are completely handspun. I much prefer the yarns on the right, as they have a creaminess that the commercial two ply laceweight can't accomplish.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try spinning your own autowraps. Spin them to the left (S) or finish the singles before you use them. Make sure they can unreel freely from a lightweight untensioned bobbin or spool.

The yarn on the right was spun from Three Waters Farm superfine merino in "Mixed Laundry". The yarn on the left was spun from some superwash colonial fiber I dyed in an exhaust bath.
